So...why a disclaimer for the Darius games? Since this is a site dedicated to the bosses of the series, I feel that I can be pedantic enough to differentiate between liking bosses and liking the games in which these bosses come in. Certainly, Darius Gaiden and G-Darius are top-notch shoot'em ups, but the others revel a bit in cheap level design (and, also, the cheap death) as well as backgrounds that are drab to a fault. A Darius game isn't always my first choice either when I play a game (that is often Ranchan Cat). Of course, the games were popular enough for new games to be made (until 1997), but that's not necessarily an indicator of enjoyability (which is, often enough, why one plays games). And, finally:
