Zone Y is over this nice lush green forest/jungle type stage, which I found rather nasty in spots. The enemies come in all directions at you and throw bullets at you any old how (and not in nice ordered patterns, which makes it a real bitch). It also starts to rain but clears up during the stage! Eventually, you reach this ravine and this ocean sunfish with one of the coolest boss names rises from it with the aid of boosters (as the bad GIF above suggests).
Tips:This is missing from the pix above, but to start things off,Odious Trident starts things off with the most ambitious ramming attack a Darius boss has pulled off to date. His main booster charges up and, well, he charges you! And if it isn't enough, his exhaust can kill you (bleh). I'm afraid I don't remember the exact attack cycle following this . My humblest apologies. But the pix are more or less in order, with the ramming and splitting attacks being used more than once. there is a relatively safe spot near Odious Trident's mouth when he puts out his fins to fire blue lasers. You just need to move with it and avoid the fins crashing into you.
