Moderato
Appears as a boss in:
Super Darius 2(1993)
Relatives: Peace Destroyer
The Super Dariuses for the Turbo Duo had quite a few interesting new bosses to offer us. A somewhat undernourished member of this group is the venerable Moderato, the boss of zone X. The stage is your usual bitchin' hard final tier level, and then you run into this guy whose serial number I have regretfully forgotten. Sorry.
A respectable boss, but that's it.
Tips:Looking a bit undead, Moderato ambles onto the screen. His chief attack right now is a three-bullet arc. I think he can be hit anywhere on his body but at the moment he doesn't show much of himself to you. The thing to do is to blow his crest off bit by bit, and he then gets a bit friskier. He brings his whole self out onto the screen now, firing the same bullet arc and a homing missile. Moderato will indulge in Driosawm-like antiques now, twisting himself around (and he can crash into you, watch out). When I took him down, I found myself surrounded by him and hy poor Silver Hawk didn't know which way to point. Of course, in the end, his whirling-dervish antics amount to naught, and:
Oh, well. Another disappointment. Mumble mumble. And we are treated to a good shoot of Grand Octopus with his little octopi beating it, with the inspiring message below:
Ya got this for Little Stripes in the original Sagaia.

Real-Life Inspiration: The oarfish (Regalecus glesne). This bugger is the longest bony fish known to man (the whale shark is cartilagneous).
The origin of its name is uncertain, but it is a probable inspiration for tales of 'sea serpents'. Sea snakes and eels are another kettle of fish
