Zone V, set against a suitably warlike background of flame-coloured skies is a fairly typical seventh-tier Darius stage. It has, however, like other seventh-tier levels in Super Darius II a unique sub-boss in the form of a flatfish (whom I shall call Head Like a Sole for want of a better name). Eventually, you run into project Radiant Silvergun 93, or Mech. Bio Strong.

Just a hint of R-Type.

Tips:Mech. Bio Strong takes things slowly to begin with. You have to blow up his placenta (or is it a yolk sac?) to start the attacks. When this is done, he wakes up and begins to fire away. He has a few gun batteries as well as missile launchers apart from his own attacks. The former fire straight lasers and more conventional bullets at you, while the latter fire the usual destructible missiles. There also are some bigger purple beams from a cannon lower down, but I was unable to capture them. The gun battery I'm talking about only 'appears' once you blow off MBS' grasping arms. The head, on the other hand, fires more 'traditional attacks'. One of them is the same kind of little embryos Bio Strong Mark I fired, and some kind of purple beam.



Now let me tell you something. The boss is quite easy to fight, because Taito, by design or accident, have provided you with a safe spot! If you stay exactly where my Silver Hawk is, no harm at all will come to you. Oh, well, maybe a bit, since my shield was lost. But stick to it, and this dude will cry and run away for momma just like any other baby in the end!
