Even though Sagaia in several ways was a big step up from the original Darius (except, maybe, the way you get powerups), the final bosses have a decidedly lackluster look to them. They are NOT pushovers, mind you, but...pff. Look at Little Stripes to see what I mean.
Far too 'ornamental' to be a final boss....
Tips:A fish you'd find in a pet shop. Come on! But he is nasty enough not to warrant any more cracks. While Little Stripes is still in one piece (all his fins are destructible), his chief attack is sending out several huge wave beams which kick your old beam laser from Darius's ass. And they're fast, too. You should give yourself plenty of elbow room to avoid being squashed by his beams or him. Try to hit him with your bombs or straight lasers, while concentrating on his fins. Oh, and his main weak point is his mouth, which opens only when he firest from it.
Ooo...you rotten cad, knocking off my fins!
The kid gloves come off with the fins. Little Stripes now fires
several tiny wave lasers, which then expand into the same killing size as before. After this come several aimed five-bullet arcs which will make you cry. Neither are particularly lethal, but when the arcs open up while a few waves are still hanging around are what you should watch out for. Unfortunately, all this hard work only rewards you with rather workmanlike ending which was overused in the SNES Dariuses.
In Super Darius, Little Stripes goes ahead and rips off Fatty Glutton's main attack! He fires them little fishes at you which then split into three- or four-bullet arcs aimed at you. For some reason, I've always found the attack easier with him. After doing this three or four times, the guy decides to ram you (ouch). He's not the only rammer boss in Super Darius, though. Like his predecessor, his fins can be shot off and eventually, he goes DOWN, bitch!

Real-Life Inspiration: The angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare ), a very popular aquarium fish. Now, a more interesting name could have been made with the 'angel', but, no, they had to call it...Little Stripes. Why, Taito, why?
