Relatives: Cuttle Fish, Demon Sword and Neon Light Illusion.
'Devil Fish'. Simply brilliant. Either a terrible B-movie, terribler metal song, or fishermen's myth that would make Hemingway happy. The boss is passable though, and done with the usual attention to detail that the Darius Force bosses have. The attacks aren't terribly uninspired, either.
Glenn Danzig says:"Devil Fish! HOOOO!!!!"
Tips: Tentacle attacks were, in the past, domains of the Belser octopi. After Demon Sword, Devil Fish has a more fleshed-out 'un and is backed by his other attacks. The tentacles are very much retracted at first, and come out to annoy you one by one, with bullet arcs and attempted rams. In the meantime, a purple gem thingy on Devil Fish's mantle fires four-bullet arcs, and lobs grenades which explode (by themselves or when shot) into three bullets. The purple thingy is the weak spot, and the tentacles are destructible and non-regenerating. Woo hoo! The grenade launcher has an interesting animation too, and can be taken out. It is a good idea to take this and the tentacles out to reduce Devil Fish to a blubbering mass of sentient cybercephalopod before the coup de grace.
